AssetOS Mobile Is Live — And It's Free for Every Field User

The AssetOS CMMS app is now on the App Store and Google Play. Offline-first work orders, QR asset scanning and labour timing — included on every plan, with no per-technician licence.

AssetOS Mobile Is Live — And It's Free for Every Field User

The AssetOS mobile app is now live on both the App Store and Google Play. It runs on iOS 15 and later, Android 7 and later, and you can install it from assetos.io/download.

Two decisions inside it matter more than the feature list, so I'll start there.

Mobile is on every plan — including the free one

There is no mobile add-on, no per-device fee, and no "mobile bundle" upsell at renewal. The app is included on the Free plan, and it is included on every paid plan above it.

More importantly: operators and requesters never consume a paid seat. The technician scanning a tag, running an inspection check, logging a defect or closing an assigned job does not appear on your invoice. You pay for the people doing scheduling, PM management, reporting and admin — and nobody else.

That is not generosity. It is the only licence model that produces complete maintenance data.

Charge per technician and one of two things happens. Either the customer buys too few seats, and the work that goes untracked is exactly the work that happens furthest from the office — which is most of it. Or they buy enough seats, the number gets noticed at renewal, and the whole rollout dies in a budget meeting eighteen months in. I have watched both happen from the inside of a maintenance function, more than once.

A CMMS with holes in its data is worse than a spreadsheet, because people trust it. If your licence model is what put the holes there, you bought the wrong system.

Offline is the architecture, not a feature flag

Every CMMS vendor claims offline support. Most of them mean a web view that caches a page and shows you a spinner when you tap anything.

Here is the test, and you can run it on any vendor's demo in ninety seconds:

  1. Open a work order on the demo phone.
  2. Turn on aeroplane mode.
  3. Close the work order — add a note, log the labour, attach a photo.
  4. Turn aeroplane mode off and watch what happens.

If the app refused the change, it isn't offline-capable. If it accepted the change and then lost it, that is worse than refusing. If the change queued, survived, and synced — with the app telling you plainly what was still pending — that is what you want.

AssetOS Mobile stores your work orders and assets on the device. Changes made with no connection queue locally and sync automatically when coverage returns, and there is a pending-changes view so a technician always knows what has made it back and what hasn't. Sync conflicts are surfaced in the app; they are never silently discarded, because a silently discarded change is how a plant manager loses faith in a system permanently.

Plant rooms, basements, loading bays, the lay-by on the A34 — the signal problem is not an edge case in this industry. It is the normal working environment.

What's in v1.0

  • Your assigned work, sorted by priority and due date, with status updates from triage through to resolution.
  • QR tag scanning straight to full asset history — components, specifications, past work orders, open faults. No hunting for a serial number in a register.
  • A labour timer that records real start and stop times, so time-on-tools stops being a number someone reconstructs on Friday afternoon.
  • Photo capture attached to the job, which is where most of your audit evidence actually comes from.
  • Component reallocation between assets and vehicles from the phone.
  • Push notifications when work is assigned to you.

Deliberately not in it: dashboards, PM scheduling screens, report builders, admin settings. Those belong on a desktop with a keyboard and a person whose job is to use them. The five things a technician does on a job are the five things the app does well. Desktop bloat squeezed into a phone is why the last three apps your team was given ended up unused after month two.

What isn't there yet

Straight answers, since you'll find out anyway:

  • Ratings. Both listings are new, so there are none yet. If the app saves your team time this week, a store rating genuinely helps other maintenance teams find it.
  • Languages. English only for now.
  • Signature capture and inspection checklists on mobile are rolling out next; today the inspection flow is strongest on the web app.
  • Telematics-driven jobs — the Geotab integration is in build, with first fleets targeted for September 2026. When it lands, usage-based PM triggers will raise work orders that appear in the app like any other.

Getting it onto your team's phones

  1. Create a workspace on the web — free plan, no card. If you already have data somewhere else, we'll migrate it for you.
  2. Invite your field team. They're free seats. Invite everyone who touches equipment, not just the people you'd have paid for.
  3. Send them to assetos.io/download — there are QR codes on that page they can scan straight off your screen. They sign in with the same email as the web account, and the first sync pulls their work orders and assets down to the device.
